What to expect when you reach out to Crosswinds Counseling

1. Contact Us

There are several ways you can reach us to get started.

  1. Email: info@crosswinds.org
  2. Text: (260) 238-8939
  3. Call: (877) 594-9204
  4. Online Contact Form

2. Speak with a Crosswinds Scheduling Representative

Once you take that first step, a Crosswinds Scheduling Representative will respond to you within 1 business day, if not sooner. This person is part of our friendly Crosswinds team, and they will ask you a few questions to get you enrolled.

Here are a few questions that you can expect to be asked so we can better match you with a therapist:

  1. Where do you reside?
  2. Are you calling about services for yourself or for someone else?
  3. Are you needing individual, couples, or family counseling?
  4. Do you prefer to meet with a male or female therapist?
  5. Do you prefer in-office counseling or online counseling?
  6. What is your schedule? If you are doing counseling with someone else, what is the other person’s schedule?
  7. How will you plan to pay for counseling? (insurance, self-pay, etc)
  8. In a brief overview, why are you seeking services?

Note: Before calling Crosswinds, please check with your insurance provider to see who your mental health benefits are provided by, as well as what your specific benefits are.

If you’re calling for the first time, please expect the call to last 10 to 15 minutes.

We are happy to connect with you Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Please expect a delayed response outside of normal business hours.

3. Complete New Client Paperwork

Once your appointment is successfully scheduled, you will receive New Client Paperwork. Completion is required before your first appointment. You will also receive an email with the day, time, and location of the appointment, along with your therapist’s name.

If you wish to learn more about your therapist, you can find them on our Counseling Team page

What to Expect When You First Visit

1. Complete paperwork

As stated above, you will need to complete the New Client Paperwork before your first visit with your therapist that you should have received when your appointment was scheduled.

2. Confirm Your Appointment

You will receive an email and text reminder 3 days prior to your appointment with the day, time, location (if in-office) or link (if online), and your therapist’s name.

Cancellation Policy: To avoid a cancellation penalty, please contact Crosswinds at least 24 hours before your appointment if you wish to cancel or reschedule.

If you wish to learn more about your therapist, you can find them on our Counseling Team page

3. Find Your Location

Find the location of your appointment (if you’re meeting at one of our counseling offices) and figure out how much time it will take you to get there.

Click here to view details for each of our counseling office locations.

4. Sign In Once Your Arrive

Once you arrive, you will check in with the Office Coordinator. Bring your payment method and insurance card if that information has not already been submitted previously during your enrollment process.

If you could not complete the New Client Paperwork, please show up a few minutes early to your appointment to complete that.

5. Meet Your Therapist

Finally, you will meet your therapist! During the first session with your therapist, they will try to get to know you and have you explain why you are seeking counseling. Our approach at Crosswinds Counseling is client-driven, meaning you get to work on what you want to work on. It is up to you what you want to talk about. Our therapists are there to guide you through your journey.

Melissa McWilliams Scheduling Manager Crosswinds Counseling

Melissa McWilliams

Scheduling Manager
With Crosswinds 8 Years

What Melissa enjoys most about working at Crosswinds: I love being able to offer hope and letting someone know they are not alone in their circumstances.

Melissa’s words of encouragement:  Remember to treat your mental health like your physical health, with regular check-ups and proactive sessions to prevent minor needs from becoming more serious. However, if needs become more serious, much like there is no shame in getting help for a broken arm, there is also no shame in getting help for other brokenness you encounter. Reach out! There is a safe and friendly person on the other end ready to match you with one of our amazing Crosswinds therapists!

About Melissa: Being the imperfect wife of a loyal/patient/wonderful husband and college baseball coach, and mother to an amazing soccer-and-baseball-playing daughter! The joy in my current life season comes from eating from our league’s amazing concession stand while at the baseball field (it is seriously the BEST food!). Outside of this, I also immensely enjoy time spent with my dear family and friends, traveling, cooking (sometimes), running (sometimes), and being intentionally present in the moments God gives me, soaking it all in.

Janet Beemer Scheduler Crosswinds Counseling

Janet Beemer

Scheduler
With Crosswinds 6 Years

What Janet enjoys most about working at Crosswinds:  I love coming alongside people and connecting them with the opportunity and resources for help and healing!

Janet’s words of encouragement: Life has its struggles and traumas. We have a tendency to try to do it on our own when help and hope can be just a phone call or text message away! Don’t let the troubles you’re facing lead you down a path of isolation! Reach out and take that next step to get the help you need- if we cannot help you, we’ll do our best to refer you to someone who can!

About Janet: I am passionate about family! Spending time with my husband, our adult children, grandchildren, and serving others in my church family are the best moments in my life. We enjoy the outdoors and travel.
