Your First Counseling Session

What to expect once you scheduled your first appointment with us

1. Complete paperwork

After you request your appointment, you will receive intake paperwork that will need to be completed and returned before your first session, along with insurance eligibility checks if you are paying with insurance.  If the paperwork and the eligibility check are not completed, then the appointment will be canceled and rescheduled once received.

2. Confirm Your Appointment, Appointment Reminders Will Be Sent

Once your appointment is confirmed you will receive a confirmation through email/text.  You will also receive a reminder 3 days prior to your scheduled appointment and then again 2 hours prior.  If you are using online/telehealth services, the appointment link will be sent in your final reminder.  

Cancellation Policy:  Any appointment that is cancelled by the client under 24 hours of the scheduled appointment OR a “No Show”(not showing up at all) will be changed a late cancellation/No Show” fee.  To avoid a cancellation fee, please contact Crosswinds at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment.

3. Find Your Location

Find the location of your appointment (if you’re meeting at one of our counseling offices) and figure out how much time it will take you to get there.

4. Day Of Appointment

If you are meeting in person in our Fort Wayne or South Indy office locations, when you arrive, please take a seat and your therapist or one of office coordinators will assist you. 

If your session is online, please use the telehealth link in your appointment reminder.  If you have any issues accessing it, please call 317-412-9172.  Please remember that we must have all paperwork returned before you can be seen.

5. What To Expect In Your First Appointment

First appointments can take between 53 and 90 minutes to allow time for your therapist to ask questions to get to know you better and to begin mapping out your treatment path. Our approach at Crosswinds Counseling is client-driven” meaning that you determine and drive what you want to work on, our therapists are there to help guide you through your journey to healing.
