Moving Forward
When we haven’t made peace with our past it is easy to get stuck in cycles of overwhelming emotion. These feelings can inhibit us from moving forward and pursuing a life that we really want to live. Many have experienced trauma or have witnessed trauma and the results of trauma in those they love. It’s difficult to know how to heal when things are just so hard. These struggles can affect the whole family unit. It is hard to suffer, much harder to watch a loved one suffer, and not know what to do. It all brings us back to those cycles of overwhelming emotion.
I will always hold you in positive regard. I want you to know that you have a purpose and are capable of improving your life, finding confidence, and loving yourself. You are an expert on you, and your own best advocate. We’ll work together to develop the skills you need to find joy and the ability to move forward, even when things are difficult.
In sessions, I take a person-centered approach and frequently utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. I will sometimes utilize play therapy techniques with my younger clients. I believe in a team-based approach when working with families. I am more than happy to integrate faith into therapy when desired.
