Crosswinds Conversations | Curtis Smith Interviews Brose McVey, Executive Director of Ben’s Ranch

Crosswinds Conversations is a segment of a TV Series called Restoring Hope with Crosswinds Counseling. Restoring Hope With Crosswinds Counseling can be viewed in the Indianapolis Area on WHMB40 Thursday nights @ 9:30 pm.

In this week’s episode of Crosswinds Conversations, Curtis Smith interviews Brose McVey, Executive Director of Ben’s Ranch. The mission of Ben’s Ranch is “to create new options and new hope for young people struggling with mental health challenges, by connecting them to employment opportunities on farms, ranches, stables, and therapeutic riding facilities.”

Ben’s ranch was created in honor of Brose’s son who struggled with Bipolar for a decade. Brose decided to get his son involved in a rural ranch in Wyoming. Brose said the experience “literally reset his life.”

Brose sees Ben’s Ranch as a way to supplement a traditional approach to dealing with mental health. He believes counselors and therapists are great, but a program like Ben’s Ranch can enhance the life of a young person dramatically through being outside, working with animals, and developing a strong work ethic.
